As the Recreation Manager, you are responsible for providing recreation activities to promote physical, social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual and cultural needs of our residents.
Responsibilities
- Engage residents through conversation to identify recreation wants, needs, and abilities
- Assessment and research in order to develop recreation plan
- Implement and coordinate programs, including transportation
- Monitor and support recreation team and/or volunteers in delivery of programs
- Measure and evaluate success of program, redesign as needed
- Recruit, orientate, schedule and monitor volunteers
- Coordinate church services, entertainment, and special events
- Purchase recreation supplies as needed within the recreation budget
- Coordinate transportation schedule and drivers’ schedule for offsite activities, use company vehicle for transportation as needed
- Coordinate a yearly schedule of special events, lead decorating for special events
- Prepare monthly recreation reports as required
- Write and publish monthly newsletter and calendar of events, gathering feedback from residents
- Provide training for recreation team and/or volunteers
- Oversee the maintenance of recreation equipment and report any concerns
- Develop and implement volunteer appreciation program
- Operate in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Other duties as assigned to support operational requirements
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience in a residential care setting is preferred
- Completion of Therapeutic Recreation program
- Registered with provincial Therapeutic Recreation association and in good standing
- Valid provincial class 4 driver's license required or willingness to obtain
- Completion of CPR and First Aid is an asset
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with peers, residents, visitors and operational partners
- Superior organizational skills with the ability to handle multi-resident requests
- Superior oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and problem solve
